Our laser machine: the Beyonce of laser

For many of us, winter tends to be a hibernation period, where we retreat inside, snuggle by the fire and hit pause on some of our regular skin and cosmetic treatments.

Now it’s time to shed those winter woollies and get back outside - spring is here! And who doesn’t want to have that beautiful ‘I’ve just returned from a trip to the south of France’ glow without the holiday price tag (and the stress of those airport lines!)

We love laser therapy for a post-winter glow-up. However, it can be a little overwhelming when it comes to treatments, and knowing what’s the most effective, painless way to get your skin up-to-scratch.

Here’s a few tips to help you get the most out of your laser therapy…

What types of laser devices are available?

First, we need to try and understand: what is laser?

LASER is actually an acronym for “light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation.” It uses specific wavelengths to treat specific skin conditions.

What about IPL?

You’ve probably heard of IPL (intense pulse light) therapy. It’s a broadband light system that can treat a broad range of skin concerns.

So, what does all this mean for you?

Well, think of laser and IPL like comparing a high-powered rifle to a machine gun. Both can get you the results you’re after – it just depends on what you want to achieve.

Which laser therapy is the most effective?

Both laser and IPL have their place in the market. IPL can treat large areas, due to its broad system, and is most commonly associated with removing unwanted hair and treating the skin’s surface.

Laser is designed to provide a more targeted light therapy that focuses on penetrating specific levels of skin to give you lasting results over a shorter period of time.

Why did we choose the Excel V+ (eV+) laser treatment machine?

Basically, we wanted the high-powered rifle! We were impressed with Cutera’s reputation and safety profile. For more than 20 years, Cutera has continued to enhance their technology to improve safety, efficacy and client comfort.

The eV+ is the latest innovation of the Cutera laser, with more than 35 applications across pigment, vascular conditions, rejuvenation and more.

What’s so special about the eV+?

Dual wavelength for flexibility in superficial and deeper lesions

Sapphire cooling tip makes treatments more comfortable for clients

Large spot size allows for quick global treatments

Zero calibration results in “clear the canvas” approach, where multiple concerns can effectively and easily be treated in a short time

TGA and FGA indicated – backed by science and evidence

Tracing handpiece to treat hard-to-reach vessels, such as inside and around the nose

Regulated technology

Specialised and ongoing training and support

This technology has been developed by dermatologists and delivers 50 per cent more power and speed than other machines of its kind. It targets larger spot sizes, reducing the amount of energy used. This means shorter treatment times, quicker results, less down-time between treatments, and what you really want to hear: less pain.

What can it treat?

The eV+ can treat more than 35 different dermatological skin complaints. At the Beauty Reclaimed Cosmetic Centre, we’ve seen great results for vascular issues like rosacea telangiectasia, diffuse redness and spider veins, while also treating pigmentation, freckles, age spots, acne and surgical scars. It’s also ideal for reducing fine lines and boosting collagen stores to restore freshness. Interestingly, it also works a treat on nail fungus and bruises!

Who can use it?

The eV+ is designed for all skin types and colour. It works well for people with serious skin concerns, right through to those just wanting a little freshen up.

What can I expect?

We’ve all heard the saying ‘beauty is pain,’ but with the eV+, it doesn’t have to be.

eV+ takes as little as 10-15 minutes for your average treatment or up to 30 minutes, for more intense treatments/larger treatment areas.

The sensation? Depending on the energy selected, it can feel like warm raindrops right up to a hot flash against the skin. The eV+ has a built-in cooling mechanism, meaning the skin can be cooled pre-and-post-treatment (right down to five degrees) to reduce discomfort during treatment.

Get your skin spring-ready with the eV+, exclusively available at Beauty Reclaimed Cosmetic Centre.
