Prioritise wellness for your mind, body & soul

We all know that feeling: running between appointments, daycare drop-offs, loads of washing, grocery shopping and everything in between. For many women, the mental load is HEAVY.

We spend our waking (and non-waking!) hours trying to keep track of all the details - and it’s a heavy burden to carry.

October is Mental Health Awareness Month and it’s a timely reminder for Mudgee ladies to take a moment and ask: “how am I really doing?” If the answer is burnt-out, stressed, tired or emotionally drained, it might be time for a wellness check.

For us, wellness comes in all shapes and sizes. It’s about a commitment to your overall health and well-being. From ensuring you make time for those all-important physical check-ups (regular breast checks & pap smears), to eating well, getting plenty of rest and staying in tune with your body.

Keep getting pummelled by cold and flu? Struggling with aches and pains? Book a visit with your doctor - because as they say, health is wealth.

An important part of wellness for the BRCC team is also around a little discussed topic - your pelvic floor. Since introducing the Emsella chair into the clinic, courtesy of Erika at Inner Strength Mudgee, we’ve heard dozens of stories of women who have struggled with their pelvic floor strength, particularly post-childbirth.

The Emsella chair is designed to tighten pelvic floor muscles and help treat urinary incontinence and improve sexual health and function. It’s an important part of your overall health - and there’s no reason to suffer in silence!

Additionally, your skin is a key wellness area for our clinic experts

Investing in a solid skincare regime might feel indulgent but it’s a vital part of your overall health and well-being. Your skin, particularly your face, is subject to sun damage, pollution, hormones and age, so making time to take care of it is critical.

We recommend our clients establish a regular at-home and in-clinic skincare routine that focuses on any specific concerns, while promoting overall skin elasticity and firmness. Invest in high-quality skincare, designed to target any problem areas, and make (at least!) daily serum, cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen application non-negotiable.

Chat with our skin experts about what you want to achieve for your face - whether it’s removal of pigmentation, smoother skin, targeting acne or reducing the appearance of fine lines, we’ve got a range of treatments and machines designed to address your skin concerns.

Finally, prioritise self-care this month...

In the lead-up to Christmas, we often get busier than ever, filling the calendar with end-of-year parties, catch-ups and events. To avoid the Christmas burn-out, put time in your diary during October for regular self-care.

It’s about you and what makes you feel good - whether that’s exercise, reading, a relaxing facial, dinner with friends, a kid-free weekend, a yoga session or a great Netflix series, take time this month to just recharge and reset. Remember: just like your body, your soul needs feeding too.

PS October is also Pink Up Mudgee month - a timely reminder to get those boobies checked! The Breastscreen NSW van will be in the Mudgee Railway Station car park until October 25, offering free mammograms for women aged 40 - 75.

This service aims to detect breast cancer early, before it has a chance to spread. Early detection increases the treatment options available and improves the chances of survival.

Make an appointment via breastscreen.nsw.gov.au or call 13 20 50.
